Detecting your location…
Based on your IP address, which usually points to your internet provider's nearby hub. For your exact code, use your device's location:
How it works
- We show the ZIP code that Cloudflare associates with your IP address.
- With your permission, your browser shares its GPS position and we look up the nearest postal codes.
Privacy
Your position is rounded to about 10 metres, used for one lookup and not stored.
Why your ZIP code matters
Online shops, delivery services, tax calculators and insurance quotes all ask for your ZIP code, because it pins down your area more precisely than a city name. In the US, a ZIP code also determines your sales tax rate and which USPS facility handles your mail.
ZIP code vs ZIP+4
The five-digit ZIP code covers an area or a large building. ZIP+4 adds four digits (e.g. 10001-2062) for a specific block, building or PO box. Most forms only need the five digits.
Postal codes in other countries
Outside the US, ZIP codes are called postal codes, postcodes (UK, Australia), PIN codes (India) or PLZ (Germany). See the postal code formats of 149 countries.
